Inside Delivering Good: A Summer with Our Interns

This past summer, Delivering Good had the pleasure of welcoming interns from Rutgers, University of South Carolina, University of Southern California, and Indiana University. They jumped in right away, contributing their energy, ideas, and fresh perspectives to help us advance our mission.
Kathleen Begley, our Development Manager for Financial Operations and lead for the internship program, describes the experience from her perspective:
"I handle financial operations and make sure the behind-the-scenes work keeps everything running smoothly. I also oversee our internship program, which is one of the most rewarding parts of my job—mostly because I get to watch interns dive in, learn, and make a real impact while the rest of us try to keep things organized. I came here for the mission, but what keeps me is seeing the team make it all work every day."
Kathleen emphasizes that the program isn’t just about observation.
"Our interns do real work. They take on meaningful projects and get a front-row view of how a nonprofit operates. But it’s a two-way street—I learn from them just as much as they learn from us. Their energy and perspective help us do better."
When asked what she hopes interns take away from their time at Delivering Good, Kathleen says:
"I hope they leave understanding how much goes on behind the scenes to make things happen, and that it takes a team to move the needle. Even quiet, steady work can make a huge difference. And we’re grateful for their contributions—they leave a mark on the organization while learning from it too."
This summer reminded us how important it is to provide meaningful opportunities for emerging leaders, and we’re thankful to all our interns for their incredible contributions.
