Central City Neighborhood Partners (CCNP) is a trusted community organization in Los Angeles dedicated to empowering families through education, workforce development, and essential resources. In partnership with Delivering Good, CCNP has been able to provide critical support to families facing hardship, ensuring access to brand-new clothing and necessities during times of crisis. To better understand the current situation and ongoing needs in the wake of the Southern California wildfires, we spoke with Margarita Alvarez, Executive Director of CCNP.

“These wildfires have deeply impacted our community,” shared Alvarez. “Many of the families we serve worked in the affected areas as gardeners, housekeepers, and in restaurants and hotels. The financial strain from lost income is already being felt, and we expect it to worsen in the coming weeks. Families are coming to us seeking food, clothing, and rental assistance, and we are doing everything we can to meet these urgent needs, including providing mental wellness support.”

Alvarez highlighted the immediate response from CCNP: “We’ve been distributing essential items such as sweaters, socks, winter gear, and masks, which are especially important with the high levels of smoke and dust. Some families have lost everything, but we’ve put systems in place to ensure they receive what they need when they need it. Weekly distributions of diapers and food are also helping families get through this difficult time.”

She also shared a specific example of the impact: “Recently, families from a neighboring city heard about CCNP and came to us for help. We were able to provide clothing and food, and we’re now working with one of our funders to offer financial rental assistance, which will provide long-term support for those who need it most.”

Reflecting on CCNP’s partnership with Delivering Good, Alvarez expressed gratitude: “Delivering Good has been such a wonderful partner. Thanks to them, families have received high-quality, brand-new clothing. It’s one less worry for these families during an incredibly challenging time.”
