Behind the Mission: DG's Casey Crowell & Samantha Moreno’s Impactful Trip to Atlanta

February 15, 2025 |
At Delivering Good, we know that providing essential new items to those in need is a team effort. Recently, our nonprofit partnerships team traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, in February to partner with Caring for Others and Bombas for an incredible initiative we undertake each year—sorting and shipping 450,000 pairs of donated socks. This hands-on experience not only helped distribute much-needed essentials but also deepened our understanding of the logistics and dedication that make our mission possible.
Where did you travel recently, and what were you doing?
Samantha: We traveled to our partner, Caring for Others’ warehouse in Atlanta, Georgia, to sort and ship approximately 450,000 pairs of socks donated by Bombas.
Why was this effort important, and who will benefit from these essential items?
Samantha: The donation of Bombas socks to our community partners is an annual initiative that allows organizations to provide new socks to their community members. This year, 36 partners across 19 states received socks.
Casey: Since September, it has been particularly difficult for many communities in the southeast that are dealing with the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, as well as the devastation caused by wildfires in LA. Thousands of individuals and families are trying to rebuild their lives and homes, so a pair of clean socks can go a long way.
What was the best part of this experience for you?
Samantha: The best part of the experience for me was getting to spend time working in the warehouse with Casey. It was true teamwork, and gaining a sense of what our partners do on a regular basis to keep their shipments organized was helpful to see and understand.
Casey: It was incredibly impactful to spend time with Sam and get to know the individuals behind Caring for Others' vast mission to address poverty. Being on the ground sorting this merchandise helped me to understand the hard work that is crucial to fulfilling Delivering Good’s mission.
How does this kind of hands-on work help fuel Delivering Good’s mission?
Samantha: This work allows us to support partners around the country to fulfill their organization’s missions and directly impact people who need it the most. Sometimes, we take having clean socks for granted, but they can make a huge difference in someone’s life.
Casey: It also gives us more perspective on the amount of time, effort, and physical work that goes toward putting our mission into action.
Is there anything you learned or took away from this experience that you’d like to share?
Samantha: I learned how much work goes into maintaining a warehouse space and preparing large shipments that go out to our partners daily. It’s a big task, but so critical to the process.
Casey: It gives me a greater appreciation for our partners who help store and prep donated products for distribution—there's a lot more that goes into warehouse management than I ever would have thought! But knowing the impact we’re making, make it all worth it.
At Delivering Good, we know that we couldn’t do this work alone. Partnerships with organizations like Caring for Others and Bombas make it possible to get these critical items into the hands of those who need them most. Their generosity, hard work, and commitment to serving communities across the country are invaluable, and we are deeply grateful for their continued support. Together, we are making a difference—one pair of socks at a time.
